Stage 1 2026/27 Road Map

Our Year 1 forward plan has now been defined.

1. A partnership has been established with the Yarram Veterinary Clinic that brings the Yarram Koala Sanctuaries wildlife service into the clinic. 
2. A partnership that allows for the development of a pre-realise facility to be developed within the WLNP.
3. A mobile unit is in the design phase. With some initial funding, this unit will be positioned in various locations within the Yarram local region, to support the local wildlife carers and provide some increased visibility to promote the ongoing development of a significant wildlife sanctuary and tourist centre close to Yarram.

Our Director, Mel Darer, attended the National Koala Conference which was held at Port Macquarie. It was an incredibly inspiring experience. The strength of attendance and the shared passion, knowledge and commitment in the room reinforced the aims and objectives of the Yarram Koala Sanctuary as both timely and deeply worthwhile. Our attendance at this national conference of likeminded people has built further connections, gathered more ideas and learning from people across koala conservation, research, wildlife care & community advocacy.

Partner Pre-Launch Event 26^th June 2026

Thank you to all the local, regional, and national government and business representatives who attended a pre-launch information session and share our vision. Special thank you go representatives from the Wellington Shire, Gunaikurnai Land & Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GlaWAC), Wulgunggo Ngalu Learning Place (WNLP), the Australian Conservation Foundation, Friends of the Earth, Greening Australia, Iberdrola Australia and Star of the South, HVP Plantations. Separate sessions were held with Zoos Victoria and various tertiary institutions, including Federation University and University of Melbourne, who couldn’t make it on the day.
